- in nurturing transformation through healing, personal growth and spiritual practice
- in open truthful communication, speaking and listening from the heart
- continually striving to achieve equality, celebrate diversity and cultivate peace
- in fostering an environment of compassion, patience, integrity, responsibility, love and joy
- in exploring creative expression through music, dance, art, poetry, and other art forms
- in reaching out to the greater community by exchanging knowledge and sharing our way of life through educational programs and service projects
- in being patient, trusting the universe to provide what we need at the right time and place.
- in committing to the understanding of the maxim – Nature has enough for everyone’s need; not everyone’s greed.

Swami Gnanananda Saraswati
Swami Gnanananda Saraswathi was born on January 16, 1910, as the third child of Vellinezhi Pulikal Wariyata Krishna Wariyar and Karimpuzha West New Wariyata Kunhikuttyvarasyaar. He had an excellent command of Sanskrit and could understand and study verses without the need for additional books.
From his childhood, he had a strong devotion and belief in temple customs and rituals. He always understood Lord Krishna as his sole refuge in both happiness and sorrow, which helped him maintain a balanced approach to pleasure and pain. He worked with the firm belief that everything would happen according to God's will and engaged in all actions with a fixed mind and intellect, regardless of others' judgments. |
Swamiji had a great affinity for Srimad Bhagavatam from his childhood, and acquiring a Bhagavata text was a lifelong ambition of his youth. He was destitute but achieved it at the age of eighteen. "Shrimad Bhagavatakhyoyam Parthaya Krishnayevahi" - The Mahatma is that Srimad Bhagavatam is actually Sri Krishna Paramatma. Therefore, Swamiji's joy when he obtained Bhagavatam for himself was understandable. Those who have listened to Swamiji's Saptah have similarly been enthralled by the Bhagwat Katharasam.
Swamiji returned to Kerala in 1952 and started an institution called Gnanananda Ashramam at Irunilmakode, where he did everything necessary for the education of underprivileged children, medical assistance for the needy, and writing and publishing things that common people need to know for attaining God. In the early days, Swamiji himself did all the writing, proofreading, and distribution of the articles in the Paramapurushartham magazine.
In 1952, Kondayoor Gnanananda Ashram started functioning, and many spiritual books have been written there. Swamiji authored about sixty books, including Ramayanatvatvam, Bhagavatarahasyam, Vedanta Vijnana, Olams of Goodness, Mahabharatasarasarvasvam, which are popular books.
Swamiji lived for a long time in the 'Anandakuteeram' Ashram, which was started in 1972 with the Kataksha Veeshana of the Devi as a foot devotee of Kanyakumari Devi. During that time, there were satsangs twice a day, and many devotees went there to see Devidarshan and listen to Swamiji's Satsaga and become blessed.
In 1962, Olavakot, Shriman Diwakarakaimal, and T. R. Nair started a branch of the Divyajivan Sangh under Swamiji's leadership. A Ganesha temple and daily bhajan kirtans were started, and later, a library named Sivananda Granthalayam was also started. After some time, Swamiji gave lectures, Bhagavata Saptahayajna, etc.
Since 1976, Swamiji has been active in the activities of the Divine Life Sangha, and on September 8, 1980, he took full charge of the operations. Just as he takes a handful of water from a pool and offers it to the sun, he coordinates his activities like his guru Sivananda Swamiji in harmony with Karma Bhakti Jnana Yogas.
